About Maui Scalar Room

I’m Rebecca Kent. My husband Ryan and I run the Maui Scalar Room — a small, family-run space in Haiku, on Maui’s North Shore. Sixteen bio-scalar units in a quiet, low-lit room, a few comfortable recliners, and an unusual amount of care about whether you actually rest while you’re here.

We opened it for a reason.

Why this room exists

EES Session

Ryan had been struggling with anxiety and depression for about five years. We thought he might have seasonal depression.

Then, over the coming months, he had numbness in his legs. It spread to the other leg, and then it was all the way up to his chest. He went into the hospital with a walking stick, because he couldn’t feel his legs.

They diagnosed him with MS. The doctors were shocked, because the brain scans were so bad — he had lesions all over the myelin sheath on his brain. Then the doctor asked if he’d had personality changes within the last five years.

And everything started to make sense. He’d been dealing with severe anxiety and depression, and we had been treating it as anxiety and depression.

Later, my Mom called me. She was visiting the mainland and had heard about EES, the EE System, from two people in the same weekend. She said, “Hey, I found this amazing technology. I think it would really help Ryan.” And there just happened to be a center in Kauai.

I had Ryan go ten hours the first week. Then he went ten hours the second week. After that it was about four hours a week, because that’s what we could fit into our schedule — and because he had started to watch the kids again.

He told me he had full range of motion in his knee again. He’d been sure he needed surgery. After twenty or thirty hours, his knee was completely fine.

The biggest thing I noticed was the anxiety. When he started to have an anxiety attack, it would only last a couple of hours, and he could bring himself out of it. Which was a huge difference.

Then, on the way home from one of his sessions, he called and said:

“Honey, this is amazing. This is what we need to do. We need to open a center.”

That call is why this room is here.

I want to be careful about what I’m saying with that story. It’s ours, it’s what happened, and I’m not going to pretend otherwise. But it isn’t a promise, and it isn’t a claim about what this technology will do for anyone else. Experiences vary enormously from person to person. The EESystem is not a medical device and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition. What I can tell you is that we went looking for something during the hardest year of our lives, we found a room, and we decided to build one on Maui so other people wouldn’t have to fly to find it.

Hear it from us: Ryan & Rebecca Kent

Ryan and I opened the Maui Scalar Room in 2023. We’re raising our family here, and one of us is usually the person who greets you at the door.

If you ask us what the technology does, you’ll get a more measured answer than you might expect. That’s on purpose.

What we believe

We share what we know honestly, stay curious about what we don’t, and don’t make promises we can’t support. That’s the value we hold ourselves to hardest, and it shapes how we talk about all of this. You’ll notice we undersell the mechanism. We’d rather the experience be better than the pitch.

Beyond that, a few things we’ve come to believe:

  • Healing is a process of remembering wholeness. Not something you chase — something you return to when the conditions are right. Our job is the conditions.
  • Rest is underrated. Genuinely uninterrupted rest is one of the most useful things available to a body, and almost nobody gets enough of it.
  • Every guest deserves to feel welcomed, not sold to. You’re not a lead. Ask us anything, including the skeptical questions. Especially those.
  • Beauty matters. How a space feels changes what happens in it. That isn’t decoration, it’s part of the point.
  • Nobody should have to do this alone. Healing is personal, but the community around it isn’t incidental.

About Infinite Light Collective

The Maui Scalar Room is a project of Infinite Light Collective, whose purpose is to make restorative wellness more accessible and better understood…through the room itself, through education, and through the community that has grown around it.

Where we’re going

Today we’re a scalar room. We’d like to become something larger: a place people travel to on purpose, not just for a session but for real restoration.

That means overnight immersions, sound healing and educational evenings, private retreats, community gatherings, and partnerships with practitioners who share how we work. Eventually, more rooms in more places — without losing the warmth that makes this one what it is.

The measure we care about isn’t sessions booked. It’s how many people leave more rested, more hopeful, and more connected than when they walked in.

Come see for yourself

We’re at 810 Kokomo Rd, Suite 102, Haiku — upcountry on Maui’s North Shore, about twenty minutes from Kahului airport, open six days a week (closed Fridays). Next door to Nuka if you’d like to make an evening of it.

If you’re new, start with the two-hour First Visit Experience. Kamaʻāina rates, veterans’ sessions, and Lahaina fire-affected rates are all available — just ask.
