Coming Home to the Heart – A Path to Revealing Your Innermost Self

What Is Hridaya Meditation?

There is an essential part of you. A place beyond the personality, beyond limitations, beyond suffering, beyond time. A home where you rest in the Infinity of Being. That essence is the Self, the Spiritual Heart. Although you are not and can never be separate from the Heart, that truth hides behind an identification with the ego and its stories. So, what is Hridaya Meditation? It’s a process of deconditioning that leads you back home to the Heart.
The practice of Hridaya Meditation has three main technical components:
1.        The awareness of the Heart Center (https://hridaya-yoga.com/what-is-the-heart-center/): Connecting with a spiritual “portal” in the middle of the chest, a little to the right.
2.        The awareness of short pauses after inhalation and exhalation (https://hridaya-yoga.com/the-awareness-of-the-breathing-pauses/): Opening to the background of Stillness revealed in the gaps between breaths.
3.        Self-Inquiry (https://hridaya-yoga.com/the-self-inquiry-method-of-ramana-maharshi/): Asking the question “Who am I?” and being present for what arises.

Doors locked at 8:25am. Please arrive between 8:15-8:20am to set up your meditation cushion.

Meditation is one hour long and mostly silent with a gentle instruction in the beginning. New to meditation? Hridaya? The first Thursday of the month you are invited to come 30 mins early, 8am, for a brief introduction and technique to Hridaya Meditation.

Bring a meditation cushion, stool, props.  We will be sitting on the floor and not using recliners to support a straight spine. Suggested props: Zafu or meditation pillow, yoga mat or padded cushion, ear plugs
